Analysis

Speeds are generally faster for vehicles heading in the NW direction than SE (the 'house' side of Station Road). This will be for two reasons:

  • when travelling SE the proximity to the houses feels more 'risky'
  • there are often cars parked on the road outside the houses

Station Road is a long, straight road, and the data clearly shows that some motorists think they are at Santa Pod, or on the finishing straight at Silverstone. There is absolutely no risk of anyone being caught by 'the law'.

Residents of Station Road have complained for years that there are a motorists who drive along there at truly reckless speeds.

This is a residential road, and has no pavement on the side with the houses. Impatient motorists overtake those doing the 30mph speed limit. One day a serious accident will happen.

The (single) pavement is not only used by residents of Station Road - people from Catton, the caravan park, folks doing a 'circuit'... They might as well be walking down the hard-shoulder of a dual carriageway or a motorway. This simply wouldn't be tolerated elsewhere. You would think that NCC would accept that they have a responsibility to ensure the safety of pedestrians and other road users here.
